    World Sleep Day is an annual event celebrated all over the world that calls to action important issues related to sleep using mutual efforts energized by sleep professionals all over the globe. The focus of this day is to bring attention to the many burdens of sleep problems, as well as the significance of healthy sleep. World Sleep Day publicly exhibits efforts being taken towards prevention and management of sleep disorders.

    WSD is directed by committee member Liborio Parrino(MD), Associate Professor of Neurology at Parma University, Italy; with support from World Sleep Society’s staff and the whole committee.

    Proper sleep is one of the three pillars of good health along with regular exercise and balanced diet. Sound sleep will also help you in staying away from 100 of diseases and will keep your daily rush uninterrupted.

    Common Sleep Disorders:

    • Insomnia: It is a sleep disorder that is characterized by difficulty in falling asleep/ going back to sleep, if you woke up in the middle of the night. Moreover, it also includes waking up too early in the morning and if you are fatigued walking a few steps.
    • Sleep Walking: It is a disorder that arises during sleep and results in walking(unconscious) and other complex behaviors without the person being aware of it.
    • Change in Work Shift Sleep Disorders: Due to change in your work shifts your sleep cycle can turn bizarre. It not just affects your mood but also makes you restless for the day and days to be followed.

    Treatments and suggestions:
