    When a student is weighing his/her options for Summer internships, it is easy to drift towards a big-name company.  After all, who wouldn’t want to be associated with companies like Google, HUL, Procter and Gamble etc. But in recent times, this trend has changed. Many students have started looking out for startups as the best option for them to intern. They are ready to give up offers from big companies and prefer working at startups. The experience gained from the startups by having real responsibilities, opportunity to learn different skills by working in different roles within a company, the informal work culture, the internships offered by startups has been attracting prospective interns like magnets.

    Startups have been able to attribute more direct responsibilities to the students than any other big company. The students are able to learn different aspects of the organization’s work. It offers them a platform where they can be in direct contact with the customers/ product/ clients etc. It might be scary at first for a student to realize that the work processes are still under development phase there and chances of committing a mistake too, but that is the beauty of being a part of a Startup! You learn from your failures. A student’s exposure across the teams helps him/her to identify those areas he may be interested in to build a career. Every responsibility that an intern takes help him learn a new skill. These manifold benefits of being associated with a startup are the reasons for growing popularity of startups among the students for internships.
